How Does a Screw Plate Castor Fit?

The circular fixing plate sits against a suitable flat section on the underside of the furniture and is secured with appropriate screws.

Before fitting:

• Check that the mounting surface is flat
• Make sure the timber is sound
• Check there is sufficient space for the fixing plate
• Position the castor squarely
• Mark the screw positions before fixing
• Use suitable pilot holes where required
• Avoid fixing too close to the edge of the timber
• Make sure screws will not interfere with springs, webbing or other components
• Check that each castor is secure before putting the furniture back into use

Existing screw holes that are enlarged, split or badly worn may not provide a secure fixing and should be repaired before a replacement castor is installed.
