Description
Square Wooden Foot 70mm × 70mm × 200mm
The Square Wooden Foot 70mm × 70mm × 200mm is a tall European Beech hardwood furniture leg for sofas, armchairs, cabinets, benches and other furniture requiring a substantial straight-sided wooden support.
Its 70mm × 70mm square profile provides a solid appearance, while the 200mm height gives considerably more ground clearance than the shorter square feet within the range.
An M8 threaded fitting allows the foot to screw into a compatible furniture fixing, making it suitable for new furniture manufacture as well as replacement and refurbishment projects.
Available in Black, Mahogany, Natural, Oak, Raw and Wenge, the foot can be selected to complement a wide range of furniture styles and upholstery.

The 200mm height makes this model particularly suitable where a clearly visible wooden leg and increased floor clearance are required.
200mm High Wooden Furniture Leg
At approximately 20cm high, this is a substantially taller furniture support than the 70mm and 120mm square-foot options.
The additional height can suit:
- Sofas and settees
- Armchairs
- Upholstered chairs
- Benches
- Cabinets
- Storage furniture
- Occasional furniture
- Bespoke furniture
- Furniture refurbishment
- Replacement furniture legs
- New furniture manufacture
The increased height also makes the wooden leg a much more prominent part of the finished furniture.

Straight-Sided 70mm Square Profile
The 70mm × 70mm section gives the leg a substantial straight-sided appearance.
This simple square profile can work particularly well with furniture that uses clean lines and where a curved or turned leg would be too decorative.
Choose this style where:
- A tall square wooden leg is required
- A 200mm height suits the furniture
- Straight lines complement the furniture design
- The leg will remain clearly visible
- A substantial 70mm square section is preferred
M8 Threaded Furniture Leg
The Square Wooden Foot uses an M8 threaded fitting for attachment to a compatible furniture frame.
Where the furniture already has an M8 threaded insert, the leg can simply be screwed into place.
Before ordering, check:
- Existing thread size
- Condition of the threaded fixing
- Furniture-frame construction
- Available mounting area
- Required finished furniture height
- Number of legs required
Do not force an M8 threaded leg into an incompatible fixing.
Where a suitable timber frame requires a new M8 anchor point, M8 T Nuts provide an internal M8 thread for wooden or metal furniture legs.
M8 D Nuts provide another threaded fixing option for suitable furniture-frame applications.
Replacing Existing Furniture Legs
The 200mm Square Wooden Foot can be used where existing furniture legs are damaged, missing or being changed as part of a refurbishment.
Before fitting replacement legs:
- Support the furniture safely.
- Remove one existing leg where possible.
- Measure its width, depth and height.
- Check the existing thread size.
- Inspect the furniture-frame fixing.
- Compare the replacement height.
- Confirm the required finish.
- Check that the completed furniture remains level.
Particular care should be taken when replacing substantially shorter furniture feet because a 200mm leg will noticeably alter the overall furniture height.
If you’re unsure whether this leg is suitable, contact Livedale before ordering.
Choosing the Correct Finish
The Square Wooden Foot is available in six finishes.
Black
The Black finish provides a strong, clean appearance suited to contemporary furniture and darker upholstery.
Mahogany
The Mahogany finish provides a darker traditional appearance suited to classic furniture and richer timber tones.
Natural
The Natural finish provides a lighter wooden appearance where the timber is intended to remain clearly visible.
Oak
The Oak option works particularly well with furniture and interiors using lighter oak-style tones.
Raw
The Raw version is supplied unfinished, allowing the European Beech hardwood to be stained, painted or otherwise finished specifically for the furniture project.
Wenge
The Wenge finish provides a very dark wood-style appearance suited to modern furniture and strongly contrasting upholstery.
Raw European Beech for Bespoke Finishing
The Raw option provides additional flexibility for bespoke furniture and restoration projects.
Depending on the required appearance, the timber can be:
- Stained
- Painted
- Sealed
- Lacquered
- Polished
Browse Woodcare, Stains & Lacquers for suitable furniture-finishing products.
Before applying a finish:
- Make sure the timber is clean and dry
- Sand where required
- Remove sanding dust
- Test the chosen finish on a discreet area
- Follow the manufacturer’s application instructions
- Allow the finish to dry fully before fitting
Metal Glide Fitted to the Base
The foot is supplied with a metal glide fitted to the base.
Where furniture will sit on wooden or laminate flooring, the metal glide can be removed and replaced with suitable felt protection.
Self-Adhesive Felt Pads can provide a softer contact surface where correctly fitted.
Always check that any replacement floor protector sits securely beneath the leg and does not affect furniture stability.
200mm or 120mm Square Wooden Foot?
The Square Wooden Foot 70mm × 70mm × 120mm uses the same basic square dimensions but provides considerably less height.
Choose the 200mm version where:
- A tall wooden furniture leg is required
- Greater floor clearance is needed
- The leg is intended to be a prominent visual feature
- The furniture proportions suit a 200mm support
Choose the 120mm version where:
- A medium-height square foot is more appropriate
- Less ground clearance is required
- A 200mm leg would make the furniture too tall
Looking for a Compact Square Foot?
For furniture requiring a much lower support, see the Square Wooden Foot 65mm × 65mm × 70mm.
The compact 70mm version is better suited where the furniture needs to remain relatively close to the floor.
The 200mm model should be chosen where height and visible leg length are important parts of the finished design.
Looking for a Broader Wooden Foot?
The Square Wooden Foot 95mm × 95mm × 90mm provides a much broader footprint with a lower overall height.
Choose the 95mm × 95mm × 90mm foot where a wide, substantial base is more important than additional height.
Choose the 70mm × 70mm × 200mm foot where a tall, slender square profile is preferred.
Square Leg or Curved Wooden Foot?
For a shaped alternative, consider the Curved Wooden Foot 44mm × 80mm × 120mm.
Choose the Square Wooden Foot where:
- Straight clean lines are preferred
- A tall 200mm wooden leg is required
- The leg needs a substantial square profile
- A simple contemporary or traditional shape suits the furniture
Choose the Curved Wooden Foot where a shorter, shaped profile better complements the furniture.
Protecting the Furniture Base
A washer can be useful with some threaded furniture-leg installations.
The Plastic 50mm Serrated Washer can help separate the top of the wooden leg from the underside covering where compatible with the furniture construction.
Always make sure the M8 thread engages securely after any washer or additional component is fitted.
Check Before Ordering
Before ordering, check:
- 70mm × 70mm square profile
- 200mm height
- M8 threaded fitting
- Existing furniture-leg dimensions
- Required finished furniture height
- Furniture-frame construction
- Condition of the existing fixing
- Number of legs required
- Required finish
- Floor surface
Where replacing an existing leg, remove and measure one original where possible.
Pay particular attention to the 200mm height, as changing from a substantially shorter leg can alter seat height, cabinet height and the overall proportions of the furniture.
