Description

Square Wooden Foot 70mm × 70mm × 120mm

The Square Wooden Foot 70mm × 70mm × 120mm is a substantial straight-sided furniture foot for sofas, armchairs, cabinets, benches and other furniture requiring a clean square wooden support.

The 70mm × 70mm profile provides a solid visual base, while the 120mm height gives greater ground clearance than the smaller 65mm × 65mm × 70mm foot.

Manufactured from European Beech hardwood, the foot is available in Black, Mahogany, Natural, Oak, Raw and Wenge finishes. The Square Wooden Feet range uses M8 threaded fittings for straightforward installation into compatible furniture fixings.

For alternative sizes and profiles, browse Square Wooden Feet.

Square Wooden Foot Specification

  • Width: 70mm
  • Depth: 70mm
  • Height: 120mm
  • Timber: European Beech hardwood
  • Style: straight-sided square furniture foot
  • Fixing: M8 threaded fitting
  • Available finishes: Black, Mahogany, Natural, Oak, Raw and Wenge
  • Base: fitted with metal glide
  • Suitable for: sofas, armchairs, chairs, cabinets and other furniture

The 120mm height makes this foot a useful choice where more floor clearance and a more visible wooden support are required without moving to a very tall furniture leg.

120mm High Square Wooden Furniture Foot

At 120mm high, this square furniture foot provides considerably more height than the compact 70mm version while retaining a simple block-style profile.

It is suitable for:

  • Sofas and settees
  • Armchairs
  • Upholstered chairs
  • Benches
  • Footstools
  • Cabinets
  • Storage furniture
  • Occasional furniture
  • Furniture refurbishment
  • Replacement furniture feet
  • New furniture manufacture

For the wider selection of wooden furniture supports, browse Wooden Furniture Feet & Legs.

Straight-Sided 70mm Square Profile

The 70mm × 70mm square profile provides a clean, substantial appearance beneath the furniture.

Its straight sides make it particularly suitable for furniture with simple lines where a curved or highly decorative leg would not suit the design.

Choose this style where:

  • A square-profile furniture foot is preferred
  • A 120mm height is required
  • The leg will remain visible beneath the furniture
  • A substantial 70mm × 70mm section suits the frame
  • Clean, straight furniture lines are preferred

M8 Threaded Furniture Foot

The foot uses an M8 threaded fitting for attachment to a compatible furniture frame.

Where the furniture already has an M8 threaded insert, the foot can simply be screwed into place.

Before ordering, check:

  • Existing thread size
  • Condition of the threaded fitting
  • Furniture-frame construction
  • Available mounting area
  • Required furniture height
  • Number of feet required

Do not force an M8 threaded foot into an incompatible fixing.

Where a suitable timber frame requires a new threaded fixing, M8 T Nuts provide an M8 connection.

M8 D Nuts provide another threaded furniture-leg fixing for suitable applications.

Replacement Wooden Feet for Sofas & Chairs

The Square Wooden Foot can be used when existing sofa or chair feet are damaged, worn, missing or being replaced as part of a furniture refurbishment.

Before fitting replacement feet:

  1. Support the furniture safely.
  2. Remove one existing foot where possible.
  3. Measure its width, depth and height.
  4. Check the existing thread size.
  5. Inspect the fixing in the furniture frame.
  6. Compare the replacement height.
  7. Check the required finish.
  8. Make sure the furniture sits level after fitting.

A change in leg height can affect both the appearance and the seating height of upholstered furniture.

If you’re unsure whether this foot is suitable, contact Livedale before ordering.

Choosing the Correct Finish

The Square Wooden Foot is available in six finish options.

Black

The Black finish provides a clean dark appearance that works particularly well with contemporary furniture and darker upholstery.

Mahogany

The Mahogany finish provides a richer traditional appearance suited to classic furniture and darker timber schemes.

Natural

The Natural finish provides a lighter wooden appearance where the character of the timber is intended to remain visible.

Oak

The Oak option complements furniture and interiors using lighter oak-style finishes.

Raw

The Raw version is supplied unfinished, allowing the European Beech timber to be stained, painted or otherwise finished specifically for the project.

Wenge

The Wenge finish provides a very dark wood-style appearance for contemporary furniture and contrasting upholstery.

Raw European Beech for Bespoke Finishing

The Raw option is particularly useful for furniture restoration and bespoke manufacturing where the timber needs to match an existing finish.

Depending on the required appearance, the foot can be:

  • Stained
  • Painted
  • Sealed
  • Lacquered
  • Polished

Browse Woodcare, Stains & Lacquers for suitable furniture-finishing products.

Before applying a finish:

  • Make sure the timber is clean and dry
  • Sand where required
  • Remove sanding dust
  • Test the finish on a discreet area
  • Follow the manufacturer’s application instructions
  • Allow the finish to dry thoroughly before fitting

Metal Glide Fitted to the Base

The wooden feet in this range are supplied with a metal glide fitted to the base. The glide can be removed where a softer floor-contact surface is preferred.

For furniture positioned on wooden or laminate flooring, Self-Adhesive Felt Pads can provide suitable floor protection where correctly fitted.

Check periodically that any felt protector remains securely attached and is not excessively worn.

70mm × 70mm × 120mm or Compact 65mm Foot?

For furniture requiring a lower-profile support, see the Square Wooden Foot 65mm × 65mm × 70mm.

Choose the 70mm × 70mm × 120mm foot where:

  • A taller furniture support is required
  • A 120mm height suits the furniture
  • A substantial 70mm square profile is preferred
  • More floor clearance is needed
  • The foot will remain clearly visible

Choose the 65mm × 65mm × 70mm foot where a smaller, lower-profile wooden support is more appropriate.

120mm or 200mm Square Wooden Foot?

For substantially greater height, see the Square Wooden Foot 70mm × 70mm × 200mm.

Both use a 70mm × 70mm square profile, but their heights create very different finished proportions.

Choose the 120mm version where a medium-height square furniture leg is required.

Choose the 200mm version where a tall, prominent furniture leg and considerably more floor clearance are required.

Looking for a Broader Square Foot?

For furniture requiring a wider visual base, consider the Square Wooden Foot 95mm × 95mm × 90mm.

The 95mm version provides:

  • A wider footprint
  • A shorter 90mm height
  • A heavier visual profile
  • A useful alternative for larger furniture

The 70mm × 70mm × 120mm foot is the better choice where additional height is more important than a broader base.

Square Foot or Curved Wooden Foot?

For a shaped alternative at a similar height, see the Curved Wooden Foot 44mm × 80mm × 120mm.

Choose the Square Wooden Foot where:

  • Clean straight lines are preferred
  • A substantial 70mm square section suits the furniture
  • A simple block-style appearance is required

Choose the Curved Wooden Foot where a softer, shaped profile better suits the furniture design.

Protecting the Furniture Base

A suitable washer can be used between some wooden furniture legs and the underside of the furniture frame.

The Plastic 50mm Serrated Washer can help provide separation between the wooden foot and the underside covering where compatible with the fixing arrangement.

Always check that the M8 thread engages securely after any additional fixing component is fitted.

Check Before Ordering

Before ordering, check:

  • 70mm × 70mm profile
  • 120mm height
  • M8 threaded fixing
  • Existing furniture-foot dimensions
  • Required finished furniture height
  • Furniture-frame construction
  • Condition of the existing fixing
  • Number of feet required
  • Required finish
  • Floor surface

Where replacing an existing foot, remove and measure one original where possible.

If the furniture does not already have a compatible M8 fixing, check that the frame is suitable for installing the required threaded insert.

If you’re uncertain about compatibility, contact Livedale before ordering.
