Description
Square Wooden Foot 65mm × 65mm × 70mm
The Square Wooden Foot 65mm × 65mm × 70mm is a compact European Beech hardwood furniture foot for sofas, armchairs, cabinets, footstools and other furniture requiring a simple block-style wooden support.
Measuring 65mm × 65mm with a 70mm height, it provides a neat, relatively low-profile alternative to taller furniture legs while still leaving the timber clearly visible beneath the furniture.
An M8 threaded fitting allows the foot to screw into a compatible threaded furniture fixing.
Available in Black, Mahogany, Natural, Oak, Raw and Wenge, it can be selected to complement a wide range of traditional and contemporary furniture.
For alternative sizes and shapes, browse Square Wooden Feet.

The 70mm height makes this foot particularly useful where a substantial wooden support is required without significantly raising the furniture.
Compact Square Wooden Furniture Foot
The straight-sided 65mm square profile provides a clean and uncomplicated appearance.
It is suitable for:

- Armchairs
- Upholstered chairs
- Footstools
- Benches

For the wider selection of timber furniture supports, browse Wooden Furniture Feet & Legs.
70mm High Wooden Furniture Foot
At 70mm high, this foot is considerably shorter than the taller 120mm and 200mm products within the square-foot range.
The compact height is useful where:
- Furniture needs to remain relatively close to the floor
- Only modest ground clearance is required
- A block-style wooden foot suits the design
- The existing furniture uses a similar foot height
- A taller furniture leg would alter the proportions too much
Always compare the replacement height with the existing foot before ordering.
M8 Threaded Furniture Foot
The foot is supplied with an M8 threaded fitting for attachment to a compatible furniture frame.
Where an existing sofa, chair or cabinet already uses an M8 threaded insert, fitting can be as simple as unscrewing the original foot and fitting the replacement.
Before ordering, check:
- Existing thread size
- Condition of the threaded fixing
- Available mounting area
- Furniture-frame condition
- Required foot height
- Number of feet required
Do not force an M8 threaded foot into a fixing of a different size.
Where a new M8 fixing point needs to be created in a suitable timber frame, M8 T Nuts provide a compatible internal M8 thread.
M8 D Nuts provide another M8 furniture fixing where the construction is better suited to a threaded insert.
Replacing Existing Sofa & Chair Feet
The Square Wooden Foot can be used when existing furniture feet are damaged, missing, worn or no longer suitable.
Before fitting replacement feet:
- Support the furniture safely.
- Remove one existing foot where possible.
- Measure its width, depth and height.
- Check the thread size.
- Inspect the fixing in the furniture frame.
- Compare the replacement height.
- Confirm the required finish.
- Check that the furniture remains level after fitting.
Replacing matching feet together helps maintain consistent height and appearance.

Choosing the Correct Finish
The Square Wooden Foot is available in six finish options.
Black
The Black finish works particularly well with contemporary furniture, dark upholstery and furniture where the legs are intended to blend discreetly into the overall design.
Mahogany
The Mahogany option provides a darker traditional wood appearance suited to classic upholstered furniture and richer timber colours.
Natural
The Natural finish provides a lighter wooden appearance where the timber itself is intended to remain visible.
Oak
The Oak finish works well alongside lighter wooden furniture and interiors using oak-style tones.
Raw
The Raw option is supplied unfinished and can be stained, painted or otherwise finished specifically for the furniture project.
Wenge
The Wenge finish provides a very dark wood-style appearance suited to contemporary furniture and contrasting upholstery.
Raw European Beech for Bespoke Finishing
The Raw option provides greater flexibility where the foot needs to match existing furniture or a particular interior finish.
Depending on the required appearance, the timber can be:
- Stained
- Painted
- Sealed
- Lacquered
- Polished
Browse Woodcare, Stains & Lacquers for suitable furniture-finishing products.
Before finishing:
- Make sure the timber is clean and dry
- Sand where required
- Remove sanding dust
- Test the finish on a discreet area
- Follow the manufacturer’s instructions
- Allow the finish to dry thoroughly before fitting
Metal Glide Fitted to the Base
Each foot is supplied with a metal glide fitted to the base.
The glide provides a defined contact point between the wooden foot and the floor.
Where the furniture will sit on wooden or laminate flooring, the metal glide can be removed and replaced with suitable felt protection.
Self-Adhesive Felt Pads are available where a softer contact surface is preferred.
Always check that any replacement floor protector fits securely beneath the foot and does not affect furniture stability.
65mm Square Foot or 70mm Square Foot?
For furniture requiring a taller and slightly broader support, the Square Wooden Foot 70mm × 70mm × 120mm provides an alternative.
Choose the 65mm × 65mm × 70mm foot where:
- A compact square foot is required
- A 70mm height suits the furniture
- The furniture should remain relatively close to the floor
- A smaller block-style profile is preferred
Choose the 70mm × 70mm × 120mm foot where additional height and a slightly larger wooden profile are required.
Looking for a Taller Square Furniture Leg?
For furniture requiring considerably more height, see the Square Wooden Foot 70mm × 70mm × 200mm.
The 200mm version is better suited to furniture where a tall straight-sided wooden leg is intended to be clearly visible.
Changing from a 70mm foot to a 200mm leg will substantially alter the finished furniture height, so measurements should be checked carefully.
Looking for a Broader Wooden Foot?
For a wider footprint, consider the Square Wooden Foot 95mm × 95mm × 90mm.
Its 95mm × 95mm profile provides a broader visual base while retaining a relatively modest 90mm height.
This can suit larger sofas, cabinets and furniture where a 65mm square foot would appear too small.
Square Foot or Curved Wooden Foot?
For a softer shaped profile, consider the Curved Wooden Foot 44mm × 80mm × 120mm.
Choose the Square Wooden Foot where:
- A simple block-style support is preferred
- Straight clean lines suit the furniture
- A compact 70mm height is required
- A traditional or contemporary square profile works with the design
Choose the Curved Wooden Foot where a taller and more shaped appearance is preferred.
Protecting the Furniture Base
Where a furniture leg screws directly against the underside of an upholstered frame, a suitable washer can help separate the wooden foot from the upholstery material.
The Plastic 50mm Serrated Washer is designed for wooden furniture-leg applications and can help reduce movement while preventing the top of the leg from rubbing directly against the underside covering.
Check that the washer suits the fixing arrangement and does not prevent the M8 thread from engaging securely.
Check Before Ordering
Before ordering, check:
- 65mm × 65mm footprint
- 70mm height
- M8 threaded fixing
- Existing furniture-foot dimensions
- Required finished furniture height
- Furniture-frame construction
- Condition of the existing fixing
- Required finish
- Number of feet required
- Floor surface
Where replacing an existing foot, remove and measure one original where possible.
If the furniture does not already have a compatible M8 fixing, make sure the frame is suitable for installing the required threaded insert before fitting the new foot.
If you’re unsure about compatibility, contact Livedale before ordering.
