Description
RX39/200 Blue Foam Sheet
RX39/200 Blue Foam Sheet is a popular firm upholstery foam for domestic and contract seating, particularly suited to firm seat cushions, fixed seating and layered foam constructions where dependable support is required.
It can be used on its own as a firm seating foam or combined with a softer upper layer to create a cushion with a supportive base and more forgiving surface feel.
RX39/200 is also widely used for contract upholstery, arm wraps, platform layers, inside backs and fixed furniture backs, making it a highly versatile workshop grade for professional upholsterers and furniture manufacturers.
Supplied in large 92″ × 80″ (234cm × 203cm) sheets, it can be cut and shaped in the workshop for a wide variety of furniture and upholstery applications.
Typical uses include:
- Firm sofa seat cushions
- Firm armchair cushions
- Dining chair pads
- Office and reception seating
- Contract furniture
- Fixed seating
- Banquette seating
- Base layers beneath softer foam
- Comfort layers over reconstituted foam
- Fixed backs
- Inside backs
- Arm wraps
- Seat platforms
- General upholstery padding

Firm Foam for Sofa & Chair Seat Cushions
RX39/200 is particularly well suited to seat cushions where a firm, supportive feel is required.
It provides greater resistance than softer upholstery grades and is a strong choice for customers who want their cushion to feel supportive rather than soft and yielding.
Typical applications include:
- Sofa seat cushions
- Armchair cushions
- Dining chair cushions
- Bench seating
- Window seats
- Fixed seating
- Replacement furniture cushions
RX39/200 is particularly useful for firmer cushions around 4″ thick, although the finished feel will always depend on cushion dimensions, furniture construction, upholstery cover and the person using it. Livedale’s standard RX39/200 cushion range also positions the grade as a firm, supportive option for regular upholstery work.
If you are unsure whether RX39/200 will provide the correct firmness for your seating project, please contact Livedale before ordering.
RX39/200 as a Firm Base Layer Beneath Softer Foam
One of the most useful characteristics of RX39/200 is its ability to form the supporting base of a layered foam cushion.
Instead of constructing the entire cushion from one foam grade, a firmer RX39/200 lower layer can provide support while a softer foam is used above it to alter the surface comfort.
This approach can be useful for:
- Bespoke sofa cushions
- Bench seating
- Banquette seating
- Contract furniture
- Heavy-use seating
- Replacement cushion interiors
- Specialist upholstery constructions
For a softer upper layer within the same RX39 family, consider RX39/120 Orange Foam Sheet.
Suitable foam layers can be bonded using Livedale Heavy Duty Spray Adhesive 500ml where appropriate.
The correct combination of grades and thicknesses will depend on the application, so please contact Livedale if you need advice on a layered cushion construction.
RX39/200 for Contract Upholstery
RX39/200 is a particularly useful grade for contract and commercial furniture, where firm support and versatility are required.
Typical applications include:
- Office furniture
- Reception seating
- Restaurant seating
- Banquette seating
- Fixed commercial seating
- Contract chairs
- Fixed backs
- Seat platforms
- General commercial furniture padding
For businesses undertaking regular contract work, complete RX39/200 sheets provide a practical workshop format that can be cut into individual components as required.
RX39/200 Over Reconstituted Foam
RX39/200 can also be used as a comfort layer over a much firmer reconstituted foam base.
This type of construction combines the structural support of recon foam with the more comfortable surface characteristics of conventional polyurethane upholstery foam.
It is particularly useful for:
- Banquette seating
- Bar and restaurant seating
- Contract furniture
- Heavy-use fixed seating
- Commercial furniture
- Specialist layered cushion constructions
For the supporting base, see our Reconstituted Foam Sheet range.
Suitable layers can be bonded using Livedale Heavy Duty Spray Adhesive 500ml where appropriate.
Livedale specifically identifies RX39/200 for contract use as a comfort layer over reconstituted foam.
RX39/200 for Fixed Backs & Inside Backs
RX39/200 is not limited to loose seat cushions.
It is also widely used for fixed furniture backs, inside backs and other upholstered furniture components where a firmer foam is appropriate.
Typical uses include:
- Fixed sofa backs
- Fixed chair backs
- Inside backs
- Upholstered panels
- Commercial furniture backs
- Furniture refurbishment
For substantially softer back cushions, another grade from our Foam Sheets range may be more appropriate.
Foam for Arm Wraps & Seat Platforms
RX39/200 can also be used for arm wraps, platform layers and general furniture padding.
These applications make it a practical workshop grade for upholsterers who need the same foam sheet to cover several aspects of furniture manufacture or refurbishment.
Applications include:
- Sofa arm padding
- Chair arm padding
- Seat platforms
- Furniture borders
- Fixed upholstery
- Furniture shaping
- General upholstery repairs
Where foam needs to be bonded during fixed upholstery work, Livedale Heavy Duty Spray Adhesive 500ml is a useful related workshop product.
Complete Your RX39/200 Cushion
Customers purchasing RX39/200 for replacement cushions and seating may also require the materials needed to complete the cushion properly.
Polyester Wadding – wraps around the foam to soften the edges, add loft and create a fuller appearance beneath the cushion cover.
Roll Stockinette – fits over foam or wadding-wrapped cushion interiors to reduce friction and make fitting into close upholstery covers easier.
Reconstituted Foam Sheet – provides an extremely firm supporting base beneath RX39/200 for contract and specialist layered seating.
Livedale Heavy Duty Spray Adhesive 500ml – useful for suitable foam bonding, layered constructions and general upholstery work.
