Description

RX28/150 grey upholstery foam sheets for deep buttoning and contract upholsteryRX28/150 Grey Foam Sheet

RX28/150 Grey Foam Sheet is a versatile medium-density, medium-feel upholstery foam particularly suited to contract upholstery, fixed and fluted backs, Chesterfield furniture, deep buttoning and padded headboards.

Supplied in large 94″ × 80″ (240cm × 203cm) sheets, RX28/150 is widely used by professional upholsterers, furniture manufacturers and repair workshops for applications where a supportive but workable upholstery foam is required.

Typical uses include:

  • Chesterfield sofa arms and backs
  • Deep-buttoned upholstery
  • Deep-buttoned headboards
  • Fixed sofa and chair backs
  • Fluted backs
  • Arm wraps
  • Inside backs
  • Seat platforms
  • Furniture borders
  • General upholstery padding

RX28/150 Foam for Deep Buttoning

One of the key applications for RX28/150 is deep-buttoned upholstery.

Its medium feel makes it particularly useful where foam needs to provide sufficient depth and padding while still allowing the upholsterer to form the folds, pleats and buttoned sections associated with traditional deep-buttoned furniture.

This makes RX28/150 especially relevant for:

  • Chesterfield sofas
  • Chesterfield chairs
  • Deep-buttoned backs
  • Deep-buttoned arms
  • Buttoned headboards
  • Traditional upholstered panels

For the associated components required to complete this type of work, browse our Buttoning Parts & Equipment.

Chesterfield Sofa Foam

Traditional Chesterfield furniture requires a foam that can be shaped and compressed to create the characteristic deep-buttoned finish across the arms and backs.

RX28/150 is widely used for this purpose and can be cut, shaped and worked around the furniture frame before the final covering and buttoning process begins.

Its suitability for Chesterfield work gives this grade a very different role from the higher-density foams generally selected for loose or removable seat cushions.

Foam for Fixed & Fluted Backs

RX28/150 is also a popular choice for fixed and fluted furniture backs.

Fluted upholstery requires the padding beneath the fabric to help create consistent channels and definition across the finished back.

The medium feel of RX28/150 makes it suitable for forming and shaping these upholstered sections while providing the level of padding required for comfortable back support.

It can be used for both traditional and contemporary furniture designs, including:

  • Fixed sofa backs
  • Fixed chair backs
  • Fluted backs
  • Upholstered dining seating
  • Contract furniture
  • Decorative furniture panels

RX28/150 Foam for Deep-Buttoned Headboards

RX28/150 is particularly well suited to the manufacture and refurbishment of deep-buttoned headboards.

The foam provides the depth needed to create pronounced buttoning and upholstered folds while remaining workable during the upholstery process.

It can also be used for plain padded and fluted headboards where a medium-feel upholstery foam is required beneath the covering fabric.

If you manufacture or repair headboards, Livedale also supplies a range of Headboard Struts & Brackets for completing the finished installation.

RX28/150 for Contract Upholstery

RX28/150 is widely used within contract upholstery and furniture manufacturing for fixed padded sections of sofas, chairs and other upholstered furniture.

Its applications include:

  • Inside backs
  • Fixed backs
  • Arm sections
  • Borders
  • Seat platforms
  • Decorative upholstered panels
  • General furniture padding

For professional workshops purchasing multiple grades, keeping complete sheets available allows individual pieces to be cut and shaped as required for different projects.

Is RX28/150 Suitable for Seat Cushions?

RX28/150 is primarily selected for fixed upholstery, backs, deep buttoning and furniture padding rather than as our first recommendation for a main everyday loose seat cushion.

Although it can be used for seat platforms and specialist upholstery applications, customers requiring foam specifically for seat cushions should choose a grade appropriate to the required comfort, support and expected level of use.

If you are unsure which foam is most suitable for your application, contact Livedale and we can help you choose the appropriate grade before ordering.
