Kenrick 60mm Shepherd Castors M10 Fitting
The Kenrick 60mm Shepherd Castors M10 Fitting are genuine UK-manufactured all-metal furniture castors designed for upholstered furniture requiring a larger 60mm wheel and M10 threaded connection.
With a load-bearing capacity of up to 300kg per set of four, these castors provide a substantial replacement option for sofas, armchairs and other upholstered furniture fitted with compatible M10 threaded mountings.
For other wheel sizes and fitting methods, browse the Kenrick & Poly Castors range.
60mm M10 Threaded Furniture Castor
The defining feature of this castor is its M10 threaded stem.
Rather than fitting into a socket or attaching with a screw plate, the castor screws into a compatible M10 threaded fixing within the furniture frame.
Typical applications include:
- Sofas and settees
- Armchairs
- Larger upholstered chairs
- Upholstered furniture manufacture
- Furniture repair
- Replacement castor work
- Furniture already fitted with M10 threaded castors
The 60mm wheel also makes this the largest threaded Kenrick Shepherd castor currently within the Livedale Kenrick & Poly Castors range.
Check the M10 Thread Before Ordering
The thread size is the critical buying detail on this product.
Before ordering, check:
- Existing thread is M10
- Thread is undamaged
- Existing fixing is secure
- 60mm wheel size is suitable
- Finished furniture height is appropriate
- Furniture frame is sound
An M10 thread has a nominal outside diameter of approximately 10mm. It must be used with a compatible M10 fixing.
Do not confuse M10 with M8. They are different metric thread sizes and are not interchangeable.
If you’re unsure which fixing your furniture uses, contact Livedale before ordering.
M10 Furniture Fixings
Livedale also stocks compatible M10 furniture fixings for suitable furniture construction and repair work.
M10 T Nuts provide an internally threaded M10 anchor point within suitable timber frames.
M10 D Nuts provide another M10 threaded fixing option where the furniture construction is better suited to an insert installed into the timber.
Browse the complete T Nuts, D Nuts & Furniture Fixings range for both M8 and M10 furniture fixings.
The correct fixing depends on the furniture frame, timber thickness and access to the mounting point.
M8 or M10 Kenrick Shepherd Castor?
Livedale offers threaded Kenrick Shepherd castors in both M8 and M10 versions.
This 60mm castor uses an M10 thread.
For furniture fitted with the smaller M8 connection, see the Kenrick 50mm Shepherd Castors M8 Fitting.
The difference is not simply the wheel diameter:
- 50mm Shepherd: M8 threaded fitting
- 60mm Shepherd: M10 threaded fitting
An M10 castor should not be treated as a straightforward upgrade from an M8 version. Changing thread size may require modification of the furniture fixing itself.
Where replacing an existing castor, matching the original thread size is normally the simplest approach.
50mm or 60mm Kenrick Shepherd Castor?
Choose the 60mm M10 Shepherd Castor where:
- The furniture already uses an M10 threaded fitting
- The existing wheel is approximately 60mm
- A larger castor suits the proportions of the furniture
- The additional finished height is appropriate
- A substantial all-metal Kenrick castor is required
For furniture using a smaller M8 thread and 50mm wheel, see the Kenrick 50mm Shepherd Castors M8 Fitting.
Do not choose between the two solely on wheel size. The thread must match the furniture.
Handed Kenrick Shepherd Castors
Kenrick Shepherd castors are handed, meaning the individual castors must be fitted in the correct positions.
When replacing an existing set, note the position and orientation of each old castor before removing them.
Correct positioning allows the Shepherd arrangement to work as intended once the furniture is back in use.
M10 Thread or Square Plate?
The 60mm Kenrick Shepherd is also available with a different fixing system.
This product uses an M10 threaded stem.
For furniture requiring a screw-mounted plate instead, see the Kenrick 60mm Shepherd Castors Square Plate Fitting.
Although both use a 60mm Shepherd castor, the fixing systems are completely different.
The M10 version screws into a threaded furniture fitting, while the square plate version mounts directly beneath the furniture using screws.
Other Kenrick 50mm Fixing Options
Where the furniture does not use an M10 thread, the Kenrick & Poly Castors range includes several other fixing systems:
Kenrick 50mm Shepherd Castors M8 Fitting – smaller M8 threaded option.
Kenrick 50mm Shepherd Castors & Sockets – stem-and-socket fitting.
Kenrick 50mm Shepherd Castors Round Plate Fitting – round screw plate mounting.
Kenrick 50mm Shepherd Castors Square Plate Fitting – square screw plate mounting.
Matching the fixing method correctly is more important than choosing a castor because it looks similar.
Castors or Wooden Furniture Feet?
If the furniture no longer needs to move, fixed furniture feet can provide an alternative to replacing the castors.
Browse Wooden Furniture Feet for alternative sofa, chair and footstool feet.
When changing from castors to wooden feet, check:
- Finished furniture height
- Existing fixing
- Required thread size
- Furniture frame construction
- Number of feet required
Measure Before Ordering
Before ordering, check:
- Wheel diameter
- Thread diameter
- Thread type
- Existing furniture fixing
- Finished castor height
- Condition of the frame
- Number of castors required
For measuring equipment, browse Rulers & Tape Measures.
With this product, the most important check is simple: if the furniture does not have an M10 fixing, this is not the correct castor.
