Description
Replacement Fibre Sofa Back Cushions
Our made to measureĀ back cushions are designed for replacing flat, hollow or tired back cushion interiors in sofas, chairs and armchairs. They are ideal for sofa back cushions, armchair back cushions, chair back cushions, loose back cushions and scatter back cushions where a soft, plump and feather-free filling is preferred.
If your sofa back cushions have gone flat, sagging, lumpy or hollow-looking, replacement back cushion interiors can help restore comfort, fullness and appearance without replacing the whole sofa or chair.
Fibre back cushions are lighter than feather and are a popular choice where customers want a soft, full cushion with a relaxed look and no feather filling.
Made to MeasureĀ Back Cushion Interiors
Each fibre back cushion interior is quoted and made to order based on the size, shape and filling required. This makes them suitable for replacing existing sofa back cushions, fibre chair cushions and armchair back cushions where the original filling has become flat, tired or uncomfortable.
We can supply replacement fibre back cushion inners for square, rectangular, tapered, curved and shaped back cushion covers.
These made to measureĀ back cushions are suitable for:
Sofa back cushions
Chair back cushions
Armchair back cushions
Loose back cushions
Scatter back cushions
Pillow-style back cushions
Traditional upholstery back cushions
Feather-free cushion replacements
Domestic upholstery projects
Furniture restoration work
Replacing Flat or Hollow Sofa Back Cushions
Sofa back cushions often lose their shape over time. The filling can flatten, collapse or move inside the cover, leaving the cushion looking hollow, sagging or uneven.
Replacing the fibre back cushion interior can help restore a fuller, softer and more comfortable feel while keeping the original cushion covers.
This is often a practical option when the sofa fabric is still in good condition but the back cushions no longer look or feel as they should.
Fibre Armchair and Chair Back Cushions
Fibre back cushions are also suitable for armchairs and chairs where the original back cushion has gone soft, flat or hollow.
They are commonly used for armchair back cushions, fireside chair backs, occasional chair cushions, loose upholstery backs and traditional furniture restoration projects.
Fibre gives a soft, lightweight and plump feel. It is not designed to give the same firm support as foam, but it works well where comfort, fullness and a relaxed cushion appearance are the priority.
Scatter Back Cushion Replacements
Fibre is a very popular filling for scatter back cushions because it creates a soft, full and plump appearance.
If your scatter back cushions have gone flat, thin or lifeless, new fibre cushion interiors can help restore shape and comfort while keeping the existing covers.
Fibre scatter backs should be plumped and dressed regularly to keep them looking full.
Feather-Free Back Cushion Filling
Fibre back cushions are a good choice for customers looking for a feather-free cushion interior.
They offer softness, fullness and comfort without using feather or down. This makes fibre a practical option for sofa backs, chair backs, armchair backs and scatter cushions where a lighter, feather-free filling is preferred.
Please note, feather-free does not automatically mean allergy-free. Customers with specific allergies should always check suitability before ordering.
Fibre Back Cushions vs Feather Back Cushions
Fibre and feather back cushions both give a soft, relaxed cushion feel, but they behave differently.
Fibre back cushions are lighter, plumper and feather-free. They are often chosen for sofa backs, scatter backs and loose back cushions where a fuller appearance is wanted.
Feather back cushions are heavier, more traditional and have natural movement. They give a classic upholstered feel but require regular dressing and plumping.
Fibre is usually the better choice when the customer wants a softer, lighter, feather-free back cushion interior.
Fibre Back Cushions vs Foam Back Cushions
Fibre back cushions are softer and more relaxed than foam. They are ideal where a plump, comfortable and less structured cushion is wanted.
Foam back cushions are firmer and hold their shape better. Foam may be more suitable where stronger back support, sharper cushion edges or lower-maintenance shape retention is required.
For some furniture, foam with a fibre wrap can offer a useful balance between support and softness.
How to Measure for Replacement Fibre Back Cushions
For the best result, please measure the empty cushion cover rather than the old cushion filling. Old fibre interiors can flatten, spread or distort over time, so measuring the old inner may give inaccurate sizing.
Step 1: Remove the Old Cushion Interior
Take the old fibre, feather or foam interior out of the back cushion cover.
Step 2: Measure the Cushion Width
Measure the empty cushion cover from seam to seam across the widest point.
Step 3: Measure the Cushion Height
Measure from the bottom seam to the top seam of the empty back cushion cover.
Step 4: Measure the Cushion Border
If the back cushion cover has a boxed edge, measure the border panel from seam to seam. This helps us calculate the correct amount of fibre filling needed.
Please note, the border measurement is not always the final visible depth of a fibre cushion. Fibre back cushions are filled to create a plumper shape and may sit fuller once filled and dressed.
Step 5: Check the Cushion Shape
Common fibre back cushion shapes include square cushions, rectangular cushions, tapered back cushions, curved back cushions and cushions with rounded corners.
For unusual or complex shapes, please send a clear photo of the empty cushion cover. We may ask for a paper template.
Why Fibre Back Cushions Are Quoted to Order
Fibre back cushions are not a simple one-size-fits-all product. The correct amount of filling depends on the cushion cover size, shape, border depth, fabric type and the level of fullness required.
For this reason, fibre back cushions are quoted to order rather than sold as a standard checkout product. This helps make sure the cushion is filled correctly for the cover and the customer gets the right level of comfort and appearance.
Please call us with your sizes, cushion shape and quantity required so we can provide an accurate quote.
Important Care Information About Fibre Back Cushions
Fibre back cushions are soft, comfortable and plump, but they are not a fit-and-forget filling. They need regular plumping, turning and dressing to help keep the fibre evenly distributed and the cushion looking full.
Over time, fibre will naturally settle with use. Regular care helps maintain comfort, shape and appearance.
Fibre is the right choice if you want a soft, lightweight, feather-free back cushion with a fuller and more relaxed finish.
For customers who prefer a firmer cushion that holds a sharper shape, foam back cushions or foam with a fibre wrap may be more suitable.
Looking for Matching Fibre Seat Cushions?
This product is for fibre back cushions. If you also need replacement seat cushions, please view our fibre seat cushion options or foam cushion interiors depending on the level of support required.
For most everyday sofa seats, foam or foam with a fibre wrap may offer better support than fibre alone.
Looking for Feather Back Cushions?
If you prefer a more traditional natural filling with weight and movement, please view our feather back cushions.
Feather is often chosen where the customer wants a classic upholstered feel, while fibre is better where a lighter, feather-free cushion interior is preferred.
