32mm (1¼”) Brass Cup Castor
The 32mm (1¼”) Brass Cup Castor is a traditional solid brass furniture castor designed to fit over the end of a suitable wooden furniture leg.
With a larger 32mm wheel and approximately 70mm overall height, it is particularly suited to more substantial chairs, sofas, footstools and traditional furniture where a larger decorative castor is appropriate.
The internal cup measures approximately 32mm at the top and tapers to 25mm internally. Once fitted over the furniture leg, the castor is secured using three screws.

Larger Brass Cup Castor for Furniture Legs
The 32mm Cup Castor performs the same basic job as the smaller 25mm version but is designed for furniture where the leg and overall proportions require a larger castor fitting.

32mm Brass Cup Castor Dimensions

The cup is not straight-sided. A furniture leg that measures 32mm at the very bottom may still be unsuitable if its shape or taper does not match the internal profile of the cup.
How Does a Brass Cup Castor Fit?
The brass cup fits over the bottom of a suitably shaped wooden furniture leg.
Once correctly positioned, the castor is secured through the cup using three screws.
Before fitting:
- Check the diameter and taper of the furniture leg
- Make sure the leg fits properly into the cup
- Check that the timber is sound
- Ensure there is sufficient timber for all three fixing screws
- Avoid fitting into split or damaged wood
- Position the castor squarely before fixing
- Check that all castors sit at an even height once fitted
When replacing old castors, measure the original fitting wherever possible rather than choosing a replacement based on wheel diameter alone.

Choosing the Correct Furniture Castor
The size and fixing method both matter when selecting replacement castors.
25mm or 32mm Cup Castor?
The smaller 25mm (1″) Brass Cup Castor has a 25mm wheel and a smaller cup.
This 32mm version is better suited where:
- The furniture leg is larger
- A larger visible castor is required
- The existing castor has a 32mm wheel
- Additional finished height is appropriate
- The proportions of the furniture suit a larger fitting
Do not automatically move up to the 32mm castor simply because the furniture is heavy — the cup must physically fit the leg correctly.
Square Cup Castors
If the furniture has a square or block-style leg, consider the Brass Square Cup Castor instead.
A round cup and square cup are not interchangeable merely because their nominal dimensions appear similar.
Grip Neck Castors
