135g (4½oz) polyester wadding fibre cushion wrap for adding a soft, smooth finishing layer around foam cushions and upholstery.

  • 27″ wide
  • 40 metre roll

  • Approx. 15mm loft
  • Ideal for sofa cushions, chair cushions, seat pads and general upholstery
  • Helps soften foam edges and create a fuller, smoother cushion finish

For the best finish, bond the Dacron wadding securely to the foam using Livedale Heavy Duty Spray Adhesive. This helps keep the fibre wrap evenly positioned, prevents it from shifting, folding or bunching when the cushion cover is fitted, and helps create a smooth, consistent finished shape.

27″ Wide 135g Polyester Wadding for Cushion Wrapping

This 27″ wide 135g (4½oz) polyester wadding fibre cushion wrap is a practical all-round upholstery wadding for wrapping foam cushions and adding a softer finishing layer beneath fabric covers.

With an approximate 15mm loft, the polyester fibre wrap helps soften the square edges of foam, improve the shape of the finished cushion and create a fuller, smoother appearance beneath the upholstery fabric.

Often referred to in the upholstery trade as Dacron cushion wrap, polyester wadding or foam wrap, this 40 metre roll is particularly useful for sofa cushions, chair cushions, seat pads and general furniture upholstery.

Product Specification

  • Width: 27″
  • Weight: 135g (4½oz)
  • Roll length: 40 metres
  • Approximate loft: 15mm
  • Material type: Polyester fibre cushion wrap
  • Application: Foam wrapping, cushion padding and general upholstery

What Is 135g Fibre Cushion Wrap Used For?

Polyester fibre cushion wrap is normally applied around an upholstery foam core before the cushion is fitted back into its fabric cover.

The foam provides the main support and shape of the cushion, while the wadding creates a softer outer layer. This helps reduce hard-looking foam edges and produces a more rounded, professionally finished cushion.

The 135g (4½oz) weight is a useful general-purpose choice where a moderate layer of upholstery padding is required without the extra bulk of heavier wadding.

Typical applications include:

  • Sofa seat and back cushions
  • Armchair cushions
  • Dining chair pads
  • Window seats
  • Bench cushions
  • Footstools and ottomans
  • Caravan and campervan cushions
  • Boat and marine seating
  • Upholstered furniture panels
  • General furniture restoration and repairs

Why Wrap Foam Cushions with Polyester Wadding?

Softer Cushion Edges

Foam on its own can produce quite defined edges beneath a fabric cover. Wrapping the foam with polyester wadding helps soften these edges and gives the finished cushion a less angular appearance.

Fuller Finished Appearance

The approximately 15mm loft adds a soft outer layer around the foam, helping the cushion fill its cover and giving it a fuller, more upholstered appearance.

Softer Feel Beneath the Cover

Polyester cushion wrap places a layer of soft fibre between the foam and the outer fabric, reducing the direct feel of the foam beneath the upholstery.

Useful for New and Replacement Cushions

The wadding can be used when manufacturing new cushions or when replacing tired interiors in existing cushion covers.

For a complete replacement cushion, start with Foam Cut to Size for the supportive core and add polyester wadding to create the softer outer finish.

Is 4½oz Polyester Wadding the Right Weight?

135g (4½oz) fibre wrap is an excellent general-purpose upholstery weight and sits between Livedale’s lighter and heavier polyester wadding options.

Choose this weight when you want a noticeable softening layer around the foam without adding excessive bulk.

For lighter wrapping or more subtle padding, consider a lighter fibre wrap. For deeper cushions or where a fuller, softer appearance is required, a heavier wadding may be more suitable.

You can compare the complete range of weights and widths in Polyester Wadding.

Why Choose 27″ Wide Cushion Wrap?

The 27″ width is particularly useful for smaller and medium-sized cushion interiors, chair pads and narrower upholstery work.

Choosing a width suited to the job can reduce unnecessary cutting and material waste compared with using a much wider roll for smaller cushions.

For larger sofa cushions, bench seating, headboards and wider upholstery panels, 36″ and 54″ versions of the same 135g fibre wrap are also available.

Using Polyester Wadding with Stockinette

Once the foam has been wrapped, Stockinette can be fitted over the cushion interior.

Stockinette helps hold the wadding around the foam and makes the finished cushion interior easier to slide into its cover, particularly where the cover is a close fit.

A typical cushion build is therefore:

Foam core → polyester wadding → stockinette → cushion cover

This combination provides the support of upholstery foam with a softer, smoother outer finish.

Part of the Livedale Polyester Wadding Range

This 27″ 135g cushion wrap forms part of Livedale’s wider Polyester Wadding range, with different weights and roll widths available for everything from light padding through to heavy cushion wrapping.

Polyester wadding and upholstery felts perform different jobs. Wadding is intended primarily for softness, loft and foam wrapping, while felt provides a firmer and more structured upholstery layer. Both can be found within Felts & Wadding.
